VITC, which stands for Vertical Interval Time Code (abbreviated VITC and sometimes pronounced VIHT-see) is data which is encoded into the blank “vertical interval” between video frames.
LTC stands for Longitudinal Time Code. This is a audio signal which transmits a series of square waves from a “Master” device. The Master device would be the main device you are running the timecode from, this could be from mixer to camera or separate timecode box to a mixer or camera.
Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers. This is the body that developed this standard. You will find this is a rule for many standard like digital being AES, Audio Engineering Society.
