Why the Timecode Notes Field Recording App?

1. Centralized Data Management

The app allows you to store all essential mixer and project details, such as mixer name, email, phone number, sample rate, bit depth, and microphones used. This data is crucial for post-production and is stored locally, ensuring that you always have access, even off the grid.

2. Real-Time Timecode Synchronization

With real-time updates, you can capture notes with precise timecodes. This feature is particularly useful for logging events or moments that need review or further attention during editing.

3. Location Data Integration

For productions that require tracking of location for various shots, the app integrates geolocation data which can be enabled or disabled depending on your needs. This helps in organizing notes and events by location, streamlining the post-production process.

4. Offline Functionality

All data is saved locally on your device, meaning you don't need an internet connection to access your logs. Whether you're shooting in a remote desert or a bustling cityscape, your data is always at your fingertips.

How to Use the App

Setting Up

Upon launching the app, you'll be greeted by a clean interface where you can immediately start setting up your project:

  1. Enter Project Details: Input the name of your project in the designated text field. If you don’t, it defaults to 'Default'.
  2. Set Frame Rate (FPS): Choose the frame rate from the dropdown that matches your shooting specifications. This affects the synchronization of your timecodes.

Recording Data

  • Mixer Details: Tap on 'Show/Hide Project Details' to input or update details about the sound mixer and audio settings.
  • Add Timestamped Note: Click this button to add a new note. If location data is enabled, it will also fetch the current location, enhancing the detail of your logs.

Editing and Exporting

  • Edit or Delete Notes: Each note can be edited or deleted directly from the table. This is useful for correcting mistakes or removing unnecessary entries.
  • Export Data: Once your shoot wraps up or at any point during production, you can export your entire table of notes and details to a CSV file. This file can then be used in post-production or kept for records.

Clearing Data

With data privacy and security in mind, the app includes a 'Clear All' button that, once confirmed, will erase all stored data from the device. This feature ensures that you have control over the retention and deletion of sensitive production data.

This could be VERY useful. Even though I use Sound Devices log for basic reports and paper logs when I am cart based, this is far more convenient. It would be brilliant if I had the ability to custom create a template with fields I can fill out on the run. The 23.98 TC clock you have is essential.
Great project. Keep it going.
